Bookings open for Summer Workshops & Sessions
Fun Equine Assisted Learning Activities
Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th January. Other dates can be arranged for group, shared or individual sessions. 1 day and 2 day bookings available.
Workshops include, activities such as; meeting horses/ponies and recognising their communication with us and each other, grooming the ponies, decorating them (optional), learning to catch and lead, making fun obstacle courses for the ponies to be lead through, creative projective projects with colourful props, doing creative projects to take
home and an Equine Assisted Learning riding experience.
Through these activities participants develop and build valuable life skills including regulating anxiety, growing confidence, recognising and communicating boundaries, talking and learning about feelings and developing relationships with others in a small supportive group environment.
These workshops have proven to be very beneficial for anxiety, autism and ADHD, and are a fun, learning experience with horses for all that attend.

All activities are mostly on the ground, with no riding skills required. A mounted/riding experience may be offered optionally in the workshops, as part of the learning activities.
Individual Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) Experiences
These sessions focus entirely on you and are tailored towards working on skills and insights you would like to develop or behaviours you would like to leave behind.
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) can assist in many kinds of personal and professional development. Things we could work towards during a session/s are better self esteem and confidence, reducing stress and being in the moment, communicating and recognising boundaries, better relational or leadership skills and connection with nature.
Every session is unique. We begin with a plan together and Mel will guide and facilitate the session. The horses will be the teachers and it is what they impart and your interactions with them that is so valuable to the overall experience.
Pricing:
$160 for a 1 hour session.
$225 for a 1.5 hour session from March 4th 2024
$130 for a 1 hour session - Hardship discount.

After School Programs, Back on in Term 4
A different activity every week of term. Building skills over 8 weeks through Equine Assisted Learning.
Wednesdays After School 4.30pm - 5.30pm - sometimes 5.45pm :)
Ideally Ages 7-11 years. However, if your child is 5-6 years and this interests you please be in touch, as I can offer individual or shared family sessions.
$80 weekly.Or pay 4 week block up front $280.
Week 1 - Calm and Regulation
with Horse Knowledge and Safety. Meet the herd observe their communication with us and each other.
Week 2 - Calm & Awareness. Groom, decorate and dress up the horses. Being aware of their feelings, communication and how we work around them and with each other.
Week 3 - Boundaries. Learn from the horses how they communicate their personal space and explore further their non-verbal communication. How to communicate ours to them and each other. Intro to leading and basic groundwork with a horse.
Week 4 - Healthy Relationships, Working more on our groundwork with horses and how we work together as a team. Team building activities.
Week 5 - Kind, Helpful, Positive Thinking. What are positive thoughts? What are negative ones. How do these effect us working together and with the horses.
Week 6 - Feelings. We all have feelings and horses do too. How do we recognise, respect others feelings and express our feelings in a safe way. What have learnt from how the horses express their feelings and how can we use this information to work with them as a partner or part of our team.
Week 7 - Facing Challenges/obstacles. Build and lead horses around an obstacle course, using all the skills we have learnt in previous weeks to help us work together as a team and navigate the course together.
Week 8 - Fine Tune Our New Skills,
Equine Assisted Learning riding/mounted experience may be offered optional on Week 8, if participants are suited to this or the session can also be completed leading the horse through obstacles.

EQU.US Evolve Team Building and Leadership
Your team or group could benefit from a day out to get better connected. Full day experiences can be arranged during which your group will be involved in fun, problem solving and team building activities with horses.
These workshops can also be helpful with developing skills within groups such as better relationships, identifying, respecting and setting boundaries, confidence, self-esteem, leadership and reducing stress. These sessions are carried out on the ground - so no riding experience is necessary.

Pony Play Dates
Great for younger children and the young at heart. Come and play some fun games and activities with and about horses, whilst learning personal and social development skills.
These sessions include easy mindfulness exercises to give the tools to stay calm and aware while around the horses and each other. They are a fun and creative way to explore and build life skills such as; confidence, teamwork, overcoming challenges, leadership, patience, listening to others, recognising and communicating boundaries.
Session may include activities such as; grooming the ponies, decorating their hair, adding some colourful props, making fun obstacle courses for them or doing a colouring in picture of the Applewood ponies to take home.
Individual session: $100 for 45 mins.
Shared with a friend: $90 per person for 1 hour.
For larger party/club/school groups of up to 6 people

Mindfulness with Horses
We like getting a small group together with our horses to reset and unwind while the herd graze happily nearby. During the group sessions Mel will talk about mindfulness and guide you through gentle grounding and relaxation exercises to bring you into the moment with the herd and in touch with the beautiful natural surroundings.
You will then have the opportunity to spend time with the horses, meeting them and connecting with them.
Sharing space with horses becomes a very unique and special experience when you are in the “here and now” and present with them.

Mindfulness Classes
A small group class gathering on Monday evenings in our pretty zen garden, as horses graze happily nearby. During the sessions Mel will talk about mindfulness and guide you through gentle grounding, meditation and relaxation exercises to bring you into the moment and in touch with the beautiful natural surroundings.

I Want a Pony and
Getting to Know Horses
Is your son or daughter mad about ponies but you have no idea where to start? Or did you have a horse when you were young and are missing that connection? Maybe you are thinking you would like to have a horse again one day. Perhaps you had a bad experience with a horse but still love them and would like to reconnect.
There’s loads of reasons why we all would like to get the opportunity to hang out with horses and learn to be with them and care for them. Pony rides, riding lessons and trail rides are great but don’t always fulfil the desire to learn about horses, understand their ways and create the bonds that you can forge through groundwork.
These individualised sessions are tailored to what you would like to learn and take away, they are carried out on the ground so no riding experience necessary.
$100 for 1 hour.

These 2 day programs are usually run during the School holidays but if you have a group interested can be organised during term at a date that suits.

Book a Workshop or Session
Please call or email Mel and she will be happy to organise your chosen workshop, or an individual session with you. She will discuss where to find us and what to bring, for example; some sturdy footwear, waterproof warm clothes if it’s wet and a hat if it’s sunny. If you would like catering for your group booking she can liase with local businesses and organise this for you at an extra cost that suits your budget.
Current Covid regulations will apply and sessions may be subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to this. You may be asked to wear a mask, hand sanitise, and for proof of vaccination to attend.
Last minute cancellations could incur a charge at Applewood Equine’s discretion unless medical related.
